Packaging giant Amcor will expand its rigid plastics business in the US after acquiring Ohio-based Encon for $US55 million ($A76.44 million).
Encon, which services Amcor as well as other customers in the beverage, food and household sectors, operates four manufacturing sites in the US and has revenue of around $US110 million.
The acquisition will deliver operational synergies, and reduce future capital requirements for its rigid plastics business, Amcor said.
