American leads in Japan golf event

American Jason Knutzon is the leader of the Panasonic Open golf tournament in Japan with Australian Won Joon Lee five shots off the pace after the second round.

Jason Knutzon maintained his two shot lead at the half way point of the Panasonic Open golf tournament in Japan.

The 41-year-old American fired a two-under 69 on Friday to be at nine under and lead from a group of four players.

Won Joon Lee carded a 67 at Chiba Country Club to be the best-placed Australian in a tie for 11th at four under.

Brendan Jones, Terry Pilkadaris and Adam Bland are at one under after the second round while four other Aussies - Richard Green, Brad Kennedy, Kurt Barnes and Todd Sinnott - missed the cut.

Yujiro Ohori of Japan shot the day's lowest score of 65 to be tied second with Korean Hur In-hoi, Philippines' Juvic Pagunsan and Thailand's Panuphol Pittayarat.
