He's been signed by the Sydney Kings as a back-up center, and coach Andrew Gaze believes he'll get his crack at making history during the upcoming season.
Singh, 26, only started playing basketball at the age of 19, which is late by professional standards.
But what he may lack in experience he certainly makes up for in size.
Standing at 212cm tall, Singh looks down on most people.
He recently completed a tenure in Japan's B-League, but he admitted that Australia's top league was a step up in class.
"The league in Australia is a very tough competition for me," he told SBS World News.
Director of the Australian Sikh Association Dr Surinder Singh said the new Kings recruit will have fans in his new home.

"Whatever he does this season, he will be met with big support from the local Indian community if his unveiling is anything to go by," he said.
"Its really great news for the community."
Gaze believes he's got the skills on the court to succeed in the NBL.
"He's a good listener and he's already bonded well with his teammates," Gaze said.
Last season, Chinese import Bo Liu became the first player born in China to step onto the NBL court.
Sydney's season gets underway against the Adelaide 36ers on October 7.
