With the Gaddafi regime seemingly in its death throes, the big question is: what will happen next?

Many fear the rebels, unified only in their hatred of Gaddafi, won't be able to transition smoothly from Opposition to government.

But others hold out hope that Libya, like Egypt and Tunisia, will follow a peaceful path to greater democracy.

SBS asked Noah Bassil from Macquarie's University North Africa Studies what can be expected in the unfolding of the Libya conflict.
