Andersen sidelined for six weeks in NBL

Melbourne United veteran Dave Andersen has avoided surgery after injuring his knee in the NBL clash with Perth.

Melbourne United veteran Dave Andersen is out of action for six weeks after injuring his left knee early in Friday night's NBL loss to Perth.

But the forward has avoided surgery, with scans showing no structural damage.

The club said on Monday that Andersen had a grade 2-3 medial ligament strain.

Andersen was forced off the court when he collided with a Perth player early in the match.

United had a mixed weekend - after losing to the Wildcats at home, they enjoyed an upset road win on Sunday over league leaders Sydney.

Sunday's win meant United climbed off the bottom of the NBL ladder.
