James Anderson has bowled for the first time since the end of England's Test series against Pakistan as he continues his rehabilitation from a damaged shoulder in an effort to feature in the India tour.
Anderson has already been ruled out of the first Test against India - and there are fears he could miss the next two - due to a nagging shoulder injury that first surfaced in the summer, with a recurrence forcing him to miss the ongoing Bangladesh series.
But he bowled this week at the England and Wales Cricket Board's National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough and will continue his 'back to bowling' programme next week.
The ECB announced he will then be assessed before a decision is taken on whether he will be added to the squad, having been initially omitted, for the five-Test series in India.
Anderson missed the first Test against Pakistan due to a stress fracture to his right shoulder and although he sufficiently recovered to play the next three matches, the problem flared up again and he has not featured since.
