Premier Daniel Andrews says Crown's Southbank redevelopment is an outstanding, properly considered project, despite what Victoria's housing minister might think.
Martin Foley called the 90-storey skyscraper an "unmitigated disaster" and "bad planning" at a Southbank Residents Association meeting in October, according to the Southbank Local News.
His comments were a swipe against the building approval, overseen by cabinet colleague and Planning Minister Richard Wynne.
But the Premier is backing the redevelopment, saying it will have economic benefits.
"This is an outstanding project, one that has been properly considered and one that is good for 3000 jobs," he told reporters on Tuesday, referring questions about Mr Foley's comments to the minister.
"I'll leave him to speak to those issues, but he's made some comments today and he's been very clear about the fact that this is an important government decision, a very important project."
A spokesman for Mr Foley said he has nothing further to say on the issue.
