A woman has reportedly blasted her horn at a group of cyclists including former Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

Fairfax Media reported that Mr Abbott was cyling with a group near Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra when a woman in a red Hyandai began beeping at them.

"She was appalling," a witness told Fairfax Media. "She lent on the horn and kept it on while weaving between cyclists and crossing yellow lines. She picked the wrong time, wrong place and definitely the wrong person.”

Mr Abbott reportedly flagged down a police car after the incident and the woman was pulled over.

The witness said the outburst was unprovoked.
