Ankle sprain sidelines Panthers winger

Penrith winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak is likely to miss the start of the NRL season after spraining his ankle in a training drill.

Penrith Panthers winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak will likely miss round one of the NRL season after being sidelined for six weeks with an ankle injury.

The 22-year-old, who played all but two matches for the Panthers in 2017, suffered a high ankle sprain at training last week, the club said.

Medical advice received this week suggested Watene-Zelezniak would miss Penrith's season opener against the Parramatta Eels on March 11 but could be back for the round two meeting with South Sydney.
