Event organisers called a second a lay day on Wednesday at the World Surf League (WSL) championship tour's Quiksilver and Roxy Pro events in France, with only minimal swell on offer.

"There's still really not much happening out there, so we're going to be off for the day, both men and women," said WSL women's commissioner Jessi Miley-Dyer.

"We talked about waiting for this swell that we know is going to come and being on hold, waiting for a few hours, but I think the wind is going to come up. We've definitely got really good waves tomorrow."

First to compete when competition resumes will be Australian surfer Tyler Wright against American Sage Erickson in the Roxy Pro women's semi-finals or fellow Australian Julian Wilson taking on Italo Ferreira of Brazil in the Quiksilver Pro men's quarter-finals.
