Another loss for Todd Reid's family

Tennis prodigy Todd Reid's coach and father has died just six months after the one-time Davis Cup player died.

Todd Reid's heartbroken family have suffered another devastating loss, with the former Wimbledon junior champion's father passing away.

Bob Reid's death on the weekend, at age 75, comes barely six months after Todd, a one-time Australian Davis Cup player, was found dead at just 34.

Bob Reid coached his son until the prodigiously talented youngster joined the world-acclaimed Nick Bollettieri Tennis Acadamy in Florida when he was 14.

Also a highly respected member of the Sydney surf life saving community and a high-ranking police officer, Bob's death continues a wretched run for the Reid family.

He and wife Sandra, herself a former tennis professional, have run the Matraville Sports Centre in suburban Sydney, where Todd coached following his injury-enforced retirement, for the past 31 years.

But as part of a council redevelopment, the Reids were recently told they were losing the squash courts this year.

Sandra now plans to retire and spend time with her daughters Tara and Renee, themselves both former junior tennis champions too.
