Julian Wilson's charge towards a maiden world surfing title has been put on hold after Pipe Masters organisers called another lay day.
The Australian is one of three competitors in contention for the world crown along with Brazilian pair Gabriel Medina and Felipe Toledo.
Sunshine Coast product Wilson has already advanced to round three, along with series leader Medina, after he won his opening heat at Pipeline in Hawaii.
Toledo faces an elimination second-round heat when the action resumes.
Organisers called off the contest on Sunday because of a decreasing swell, with the next call set for Monday 0430 (AEDT).
"We are expecting a really large swell to fill in overnight. Pipe could be absolutely firing," World Surf League commissioner Kieren Perrow said.
If Medina wins the event or finishes runner-up he'll claim his second world championship.
If he falls in the semi-finals Wilson or Toledo must win to take out the title.
Should Medina be eliminated in the quarter-finals or worse Wilson or Toledo will be world champion if they make the final.
