Anti-Trump video links racial violence with anti-protester rhetoric

A new anti-Trump video has suggested linked Donald Trump's statements urging violence against protesters with images of white-on-black violence from the Civil Rights era.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has been accused of making inflammatory statements on the campaign trail and encouraging a "tone" of violence among his supporters.

Despite this, the 69-year-old has repeatedly denied doing so.

"I hope not. I truly hope not...I certainly do not condone that [violence] at all," Trump said when asked about it during a presidential debate earlier this year.

Now a video released on Friday draws links between Trump's anti-protester rhetoric and the ways many white Americans reveled as African-Americans were systematically escorted out of venues, beaten, kicked in the streets and segregated in the racist climate of the 1950s and 60s.
Many viewers have said the historic footage, accompanied by Trump's statements at rallies, could be an eery look into what a Trump-led America would mean for minorities.

The Republican has made statements at rallies this year including: "I'd like to punch him [a protester] in the face," and, "Knock the crap out of them [protesters], would you? Seriously, OK, just knock the hell. I promise you I will pay for the legal fees. I promise, I promise."

In March a Trump supporter was arrested and charged with assault after punching an anti-Trump protester in the face during a rally in North Carolina.

Other incidents of Trump rallies turning violent as demonstrators threw items at police, overturned rubbish cans and knocked down barricades, have also been reported.
