ANZ trialling in-app voice recognition

ANZ will trial in-app voice recognition technology that should mean customers no longer need to visit a branch to make high-value money transfers.

Customers wishing to complete transactions of more than $1,000 currently have to do so in person or on the internet, but the lender is set to conduct a voice recognition pilot in May with a view to rolling out the technology across all its apps.

"A person's voice has five to 10 times as many security points than other methods such as fingerprints so we know this will improve security and be welcomed by our customers," ANZ customer experience and digital channels managing director Peter Dalton said in a statement on Monday.
