Challenger Danni Roche says the vote for the Australian Olympic Committee presidency will go down to the wire.

Roche, a hockey gold medallist, is challenging incumbent John Coates for the role, to be voted on Saturday at the AOC annual general meeting.

"I think the vote will be very, very close, I think it will come down to the wire," Roche told reporters in Sydney on Friday.

Roche said she was heartened that Coates appeared to be embracing her suggested changes for the AOC in the final days of what has been a bitter campaign.

Coates has signalled he's open to a review of his $715,000 salary.

Roche said, if elected, she would reduce that wage to $100,000 a year and then waive it during her term.

Roche said she believed whatever the outcome of the election, the campaign should usher in overdue change within the AOC.

"I'm really excited, looking forward to tomorrow," she said.

"It has been a very big six weeks but a special six weeks. I have had the opportunity to speak to all of the sports about their challenges and opportunities."
