Police have appealed directly to a man who raped a teenage girl in her Melbourne home and anyone who might be protecting him.
The rapist broke into a Roxburgh Park house last Friday and assaulted the 16-year-old while her parents slept in the next room.
Police have released photos of a pink Mossimo t-shirt and black balaclava they believe he was wearing and which were found in a nearby vacant lot.
The items will be forensically tested but detectives hope someone in the community will recognise the t-shirt, in particular, or Asic runners he was wearing.
"If you know who he is, you need to tell us or you need to encourage him to come and see police," Detective Senior Sergeant Jason Walsh told reporters on Friday.
Police have set up an information van at Roxburgh Park shopping centre to help jog people's memories because they believe the attacker may be a local.
They're concerned he may have stalked the 16-year-old before the attack.
Police have appealed to him directly, urging that he surrender.
"You know this behaviour is not on, you know it's not right," Det Snr Sgt Walsh said.
"The sexual crime squad ... understands what you're feeling.
"You need to come to a police station, you need to call us before we come and see you."
Police have also appealed to anyone who might know the attacker but is protecting him.
"This guy has done an horrific thing, this guy needs help," Det Snr Sgt Walsh said.
CCTV footage from nearby homes captures what detectives have described as the man's "distinctive walk".
He's described as being in his mid 20s, about 177cm tall with a thin but muscular build.
He was wearing a pink t-shirt, dark jeans, distinctive trainers - which appear to be Onitsuka Tiger Asics - and a dark jacket.
