Applause for Ukrainian visa decision

The federal government has decided to grant Ukrainian nationals in Australia a temporary visa extension because of the unrest in their homeland.

A group representing the Ukrainian community has welcomed the federal government's decision to grant Ukrainian nationals in Australia a temporary visa extension because of the unrest in their homeland.

The government says further visa extensions might also be possible depending on what transpires in Ukraine.

Stefan Romaniw is the chairman of the Australian Federation of Ukrainian Organisations.

He told Greg Dyett the ruling is sensible given what's occurring.
