Apple has urged Australians with older iPhones and Apple Watches to update their software to reduce the risk of emergency call connectivity issues.
The alert was first issued in December and came after other older smartphones experienced a "technical failure" that prevented them from connecting to an alternative network when calling triple-zero if their primary network was unavailable.
The warning initially applied to iPhone 12 devices, but this week Apple expanded the list to include other older iPhones and Apple Watches.
"In the rare event that these exceptional circumstances affecting mobile operators' networks were to happen again, some older mobile phones might still encounter the same issue reaching emergency services through an alternate available network," Apple said in a statement.
