Shares in recruitment technology company ApplyDirect have surged on news it will work with Google on a potential push into the Australian job search market.
ApplyDirect shares were trading 13.6 per cent higher at 12.5 cents at 1100 (AEDT) on Tuesday following the company's announcement it would participate in Google's Cloud Job Discovery beta program, which is slated to go live in three months.
Cloud Job Discovery is part of the Google for Jobs initiative, which launched in the US last year.
Under the US initiative, Google recognises when users type job queries into the search engine and then highlights jobs that match the query.
ApplyDirect chief executive Lorcan Barden said the collaboration with Google meant the recruitment technology company's customers, which include Uber Australia and the National Australia Bank, will benefit from more traffic and applications from qualified, motivated candidates to their career sites.
"All employers want their jobs to receive maximum exposure but also have that exposure in front of the right candidates," he said.
"ApplyDirect customers will now receive increased discoverability in search results, which in turn will deliver more quality candidates faster."
