Sports minister Mark Arbib has played down criticism from Commonwealth Games organising chief Suresh Kalmadi about Australia's travel advisory that has Delhi at "high risk" of a terrorist attack.

Kalmadi was quoted as saying the warning was unfortunate and not deserved but Arbib says he did not pick any of that up during his conversations with the Indian sports minister and Indian high commissioner in Canberra.

Arbib says he hopes his presence in Delhi for the next week will reassure athletes.
