Police say they will neither confirm nor deny that investigators are speaking to a motorist who dropped off a friend on the F3 late on Tuesday on the NSW Central Coast.
"Investigators have spoken to a number of motorists and witnesses in relation to the matter and will continue to follow up all information received," a police spokeswoman told AAP.
"So, they're not confirming nor denying that (the claim)."
A motorist who accidentally drove over the remains called police about 11.45pm (AEDT) on Tuesday.

When officers arrived at the scene body parts were scattered over 400 metres near the Gosford off-ramp at Somersby.
A motorist, who asked not to be identified, told Sydney media he was driving on the F3 when he ran over what he thought was an animal.
Detectives are still pursuing several lines of inquiry, including whether the deceased may have committed suicide or been killed in a hit-and-run incident.
All three northbound lanes and one southbound lane were closed to traffic on the freeway from the Calga interchange for several hours on Wednesday morning, as police conducted a line search of the roadway and nearby bush.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted in coming days to identify the dead person and determine the time and cause of death.
