ARIA awards move to the Star

After a bumper year for Australian music, the ARIAs are moving to a new venue.

The ARIA Awards are set to take place on Sunday December 1 at a new venue, The Event Centre at Sydney's The Star.

This year has been a bumper one for Australian music with a total of 10 number one albums - a figure not reached since 2004.

The artists who made it to the top this year include Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Bliss n Eso, Bernard Fanning and electro-wunderkind Flume.

This year's Australian Recording Industry Association event will see live performances and collaborations, as well as a special Hall of Fame inductee.

ARIA Week will also return, featuring a number of showcases, conferences, gigs and a masterclass. Details of the award night as well as a full schedule for the week will be available soon.

Voting for the publicly nominated awards for Song Of The Year, Best Australian Live Act, Best International Artist and Best Video, will be open from Tuesday, October 15.

Nominations for the 27th Annual ARIA Awards will also be held on October 15 at the Art Gallery of NSW.

* The ARIA Awards will air on Go! on December 1.
