An armed man has been tasered after he held police officers at bay for three hours at a house in Melbourne's east.

Victoria Police tried to execute a search warrant in Mooroolbark on Wednesday after 9am but the 43-year-old man armed himself with a knife before barricading himself in a bedroom.

Police negotiated with the man for a number of hours but he was then tasered by Critical Incident Response Team officers and arrested.

The man will be interviewed at a police station.

No one was injured during the negotiations, a police spokesperson said.
