Actors and filmmakers from across the Asia Pacific region have gathered in Brisbane for the 6th annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards, reports Amy Wang.
Thirty-four films from 18 countries were nominated for awards.
Two of the top awards, Best Actress and Best Director, went to Filipino film "Thy Womb", a story about a midwife's struggles with her own infertility. Best Feature Film was awarded to the Turkish film "Beyond the Hills".

Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto was the recipient of the APSA award for Outstanding Achievement in Film in the Asia Pacific region.
President of the jury Jan Chapman says the awards celebrate the achievements of the fast-growing film industry.
"The APSA winners and nominees represent the best filmmaking talent of the largest and fastest growing filmmaking community in the world. A third of the earth, half of the world's films, combined distinct vision and cultural diversity".
APSA Academy President Jack Thompson says the awards provide an opportunity for people to connect with others in the international industry.
"The APSA academy is perfectly positioned as a vital industry network where relationships are forged, ideas are shared and opportunities are created in the arts and the business that inevitably surrounds the arts."
