Astros rout Red Sox again in MLB playoffs

Houston and Cleveland are just one win away from progressing in the MLB postseason after American League (AL) Division Series wins over Boston and New York respectively.

Carlos Correa hit a home run, doubled and drove in four runs as the Astros hammered the Red Sox 8-2 to take a commanding 2-0 lead in their five-game series.

MLB's batting champion Jose Altuve got two more hits and George Springer homered to help Houston starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel coast in the Astros' second-straight romp, after winning game one by the same score.

Houston will go for a sweep at Fenway Park on Sunday.

Yan Gomes singled home Austin Jackson from second base in the 13th inning as the Indians rallied from five runs down to stun the Yankees 9-8.

The Indians overcame an 8-3 deficit, a terrible start by ace pitcher Corey Kluber and a potentially serious injury to slugger Edwin Encarnacion.

Francisco Lindor hit a grand slam in the sixth to rally Cleveland, right after a close call on a hit by pitch that the Yankees didn't challenge.

The series moves to Yankee Stadium for game three on Sunday with Cleveland leading 2-0.

Elsewhere, Kyle Hendricks outpitched Stephen Strasburg as Chicago beat Washington 3-0 in game one of their National League Division Series.

And Justin Turner homered and drove in five runs, Clayton Kershaw won despite giving up four homers and the Los Angeles Dodgers roared to a 9-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks in their NL Division Series opener.
