An Iranian asylum seeker who claims he was unable to see his sister after she was allegedly raped on Nauru has reported his case to the United Nations human rights agency.
The 20-year-old man told staff from the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights he was detained for more than 30 hours in a cell at the Australian offshore processing centre.
"I just asked to see my sister because she tried to suicide, because we are family, because I'm her brother," he told ABC radio on Friday.
