According to a report from the Institute of Fiscal Studies, children born in August are more likely to struggle academically in comparison to their September-born classmates.
Despite this, the results aren't all bad for August babies.

"While we see that those born later in the academic year have lower beliefs about their ability in school, it's not translating into a lower self-esteem or generally; which is one positive note," Ellen Greaves of the Institute of Fiscal Studies told the BBC.
"Secondly, we see that during adolescence they're actually less likely to be engaging in risky behaviours such as smoking and drinking and trying cannabis."
