With a reputation for digging in, former Test batsman Chris Rogers could have some key pointers for the Australian side as they try to resurrect their reputation against South Africa in Hobart.
The visitors are due to resume on Monday at 5-171 in reply to Australia's dismal 85 at Bellerive Oval, after day two was abandoned due to rain.
Sunday's pause in proceedings brought much talk about the need to reinvigorate Australia's batsman and team performance manager Pat Howard suggested Rogers could have a lot to offer some of his former teammates.
"Chris was fantastic. You go back to what he and David Warner did at the Oval (in 2015), I think it was 14 runs off 10 overs, they read the situation really well," Howard said.
"That patience and adaptability to read the situation there."
That was Rogers' last Test and the left-hander has since turned to commentary and captaining English county side, Somerset.
"I've really been impressed by Chris's insights and comments," Howard continued.
"He's got good insight into the game ... we've talked to him about coming and talking to people around that, both technically and mentally."
The 39-year-old was flattered by the offer and told ABC Radio Howard's comments to reporters are the first he's heard of it.
"The way I played, I wasn't the most gifted so I tried everything , so struggled a lot so I always feel like I can be empathetic with what other people are going through," he said.
"I didn't ever really know that my style is what they were looking for so that's nice to hear."
Rogers said he's considered moving into a coaching role and had eyed a job as assistant at Somerset because roles are hard to come by in Australia.
"I do have something to offer but equally there are a number of guys who have something to offer at the moment."
