Ausnet has lifted first-half profit 14.1 per cent to $203.7 million after the energy network operator benefited from a colder winter.

Net profit for the six months to September 30 was up from $178.6 million in the prior corresponding period, and Ausnet says regulated revenue increased in both electricity and gas distribution due to price, higher volumes a colder winter and customer growth.

Ausnet declared an unfranked interim dividend of 4.63 cents per share, compared to a half-franked 4.4 cents the same time a year ago.
