Australia's athletes risk gaining a reputation as being bad losers after making two insulting gestures to Commonwealth Games competition officials in Delhi within 24 hours.

Cyclist Shane Perkins is facing disciplinary action after taking the gloss off his team's stellar track cycling campaign by raising his middle finger to officials after being booted out of a gold medal race on Wednesday.

Having qualified for the men's keirin final, Perkins was relegated for what officials called "dangerous riding" in a

semi-final in which two cyclists fell.

The 23-year-old won his ride-off for seventh to 12th but then defiantly flipped "the bird" to officials on passing the finish line.

The incident came less than a day after Australian wrestler Hassene Fkiri made a finger gesture to officials after losing his Greco Roman wrestling gold medal match.
