Australian bluegrass band The Greencards have been left empty-handed again at the Grammy Awards.

The Austin, Texas-based band founded by Adelaide-born Kym Warner and Coffs Harbour native Carol Young were nominated this year for Best Folk Album for Sweetheart Of The Sun.

But it was Guy Clark for My Favorite Picture Of You who won the Grammy.

It is the third time The Greencards have been nominated for music's biggest prize and missed out.

The Grammy Awards are being held in Los Angeles.
