Middleweight boxer Daniel Lewis will represent Australia at the Rio Olympics, putting a rotten run of luck and injuries behind him.
Lewis joined lightweight Shelley Watts as a confirmed selection for the Games when he won bronze on Friday in the 75kg class at the Asian qualifiers in China.
The 22-year-old NSW boxer had a unanimous points decision over Mongolian Shinebayar Narmandakh.
His win also saves Australia the embarrassment of not having a berth in Olympic men's boxing for the first time since 1936.
Lewis was on the way to a medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games two years ago when he suffered a cut eye, putting him out of the event.
