The face of Australian cricket is changing thanks to an initiative from Cricket Australia, SBS' Adriana Gajin reports.
They're on a quest to find some of the country's best players from a multicultural background.
Players like Usman Khawaja and Lisa Sthalekar show Australia is ready to embrace diversity in cricket.
"I think you'll see the next generation of Australian players will come from all walks of life. We've got a few Asian girls that are playing as well, a chinese background which is wonderful and with the guys it's going to improve as well," says Sthalekar.
But the call for talent has opened doors for a different generation of Australians - players who hail from non-Test playing nations.
They're using this opportunity as chance to break into the cricket scene, which is something they have previously found difficult due to their backgrounds.
Cricket Australia says it hopes participants will achieve a balance between sport and studies.
"... My mum was the one who was pushing me towards the academic side and my dad ...wanted me to play cricket too because he knew how much I loved it ... so I had a good balancing act with my mum and my dad together," Usman Khawaja told SBS.
