At 2200 GMT, the Aussie was at 101.34 US cents, well up on its 99.42 cents close locally on Wednesday.
"It's primarily the rescheduling of the vote in Slovakia and a weaker US dollar," ANZ Banking Group senior dealer Alex Sinton said.

It follows Slovak parties agreeing to hold a new vote this week on revamping the eurozone's debt rescue fund.

The Aussie briefly edged above parity on Tuesday for the first time since September 22, but soon slipped back.
The risk-based currency first breached parity in October last year, hitting a record 110.81 US cents in July.
