Low-budget Aussie drama Ruin has picked up a special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival.
The film, set in Cambodia and produced on a shoestring budget, won the Special Orizzonti Jury Prize at the prestige festival's 70th chapter on Saturday.
Directors Amiel Courtin-Wilson and Michael Cody beat 31 other films that screened in the festival's Horizons section, dedicated to new, cutting-edge films by international talent.
It's the second time they have had a film screened at the festival - in 2011, their joint feature Hail was also selected to screen in the Orizzonti section.
