Eyad Abu Arga is a Palestinian refugee who holds Australian citizenship.

He was detained in April after flying to Tel Aviv with his wife on what he claimed was a holiday.

But Israel alleges he was recruited to carry out espionage while working in Saudi Arabia.

According to a plea bargain, he met some people and then he learnt one or two of them were members of Hamas.

He has admitted to carrying out surveillance while in Israel - and his guilty plea is in return for thirty months in jail.
