It's been over two years since Kyary Pamyu Pamyu made it big in the world J-pop, originally coming to prominence as fashion blogger while a high school student.

The singer has kicked off her second global tour with a sold out show in Sydney.

For her Australian fans, her appeal is obvious.

"She is just so crazy and colourful and she is just really adorable in interviews which just makes me love her even more," one fan told SBS.

Her kooky musical style and dress sense can be difficult to define, combining what is known in Japanese as "kawaii" (cute) and her own sense of the grotesque.

"It's like really pop, electro, cute and she takes it to a really extreme level,"  another fan told SBS.
