When an old Aussie fella celebrates an 80th anniversary a special cake is a must.
But, what if the frozen two-tiered cake is made out of smelt, shrimp, herbivore gel squares, yellow squash, green peas, grated carrot and sweet potato, has seaweed frosting and is garnished with shredded escarole greens?
Granddad the Aussie lungfish can't wait to tuck into it at his anniversary party at the world's largest indoor aquarium, Chicago's Shedd Aquarium, on Tuesday (Wednesday AEST).
Granddad, who is 1.2m long and weighs 9kg, was donated by Sydney's Taronga Zoo to Shedd in 1933 for Chicago's World Fair.
He is beloved in Chicago.
Granddad's exact age is unknown, but after 80 years in Chicago he holds the record for being the oldest fish in any zoo or aquarium in the world.
"He was a few years old when he came to Shedd, so he is definitely over 80-years-old," Ken Ramirez, Shedd's executive vice-president of animal care and animal training, told AAP.
Lung fish usually live a maximum of 60 years in rivers, so the pampering he receives in Chicago has kept him going.
Don't be worried about the extravagant cake Granddad will receive at his party, which will be attended by Australian Consul-General Roger Price.
"All of the things in his cake are items that are part of his normal diet - he just normally would not get all of them at once," Mr Ramirez said.
