Harry Froling will fly to the United States to hunt an NBA chance that "came out of nowhere" for the NBL's rookie of the year.
The Townsville talent was due to play for Tasmania's Southern Huskies in New Zealand's NBL this year but had to break news of his plans in a video to fans this week.
Instead the centre, who impressed for the Adelaide 36ers and earned a Boomers call-up this season, will base himself in the US after he nominated for the 2019 NBA draft.
"They (the Huskies) know this was something that came out of nowhere," Froling said.
"I'm just chasing my dreams and hope you guys understand."
The 20-year-old will spend the next few months in the US for work outs and meetings with NBA team general managers.
Froling's move comes after he elected to forgo the last two years of his college eligibility and link with the 36ers after lukewarm stints with Michigan State University and Marquette.
