Australian Brad Kennedy and local Josh Geary share a one-shot lead as the New Zealand PGA Championship heads for a tight finish in Auckland.
Queenslander Kennedy produced a big finish on Saturday on the way to an eight-under-par 64, joined by overnight co-leader Geary who shot a six-under 66 in the third round, with both players sitting on 17 under for the tournament.
However, just five shots cover the top 14 players heading into Sunday's final day.
Geary had a solitary bogey as he dominated the top of the leaderboard for most of day three at Remuera Golf Club.
But Kennedy, who suffered a neck injury in the opening round that almost ended his tournament, pulled level with birdies on the last four holes.
Also finishing with a flurry was New South Welshman James Nitties, who went birdie-eagle to card a 67 and be one stroke back.
Kennedy, two behind at the start of the day, said he knew he needed to shoot four or five under to be in contention.
"I saw Josh was 14 under after just a few holes, so I just kept putting my head down," he said.
"I think I've only missed three greens in the last two days, so I've been giving myself a lot of opportunities."
Geary said the foundation for his round came from a great start.
"I birdied the first three holes with good putts so momentum was in my favour," he said.
"I capitalised on that, made some good swings and kept it going."
Geary said it would be a huge sentimental achievement to win his home PGA.
"My game is in great shape so I'll stick to what I've been doing," he said.
"It will take a good score but, the way I'm going, it's on the cards."
