Aussie Jasika outclassed at Kooyong tennis

Young Australian Omar Jasika has been outgunned by teenaged South Korean Hyeon 6-4-6-3 at the Kooyong tennis classic in Melbourne.

Australia's Omar Jasika has been outclassed by another teenager in South Korean Hyeon Chung at the Kooyong Classic.

Jasika, 18, with a wildcard to next week's Australian Open, couldn't match the consistency of 19-year-old Chung.

Ranked world No.51, Chung won 6-4 6-3 on Tuesday in a positive step ahead of his first appearance in the main draw at Melbourne Park.

"I lost to him six months ago so it was good to avenge him this time," Chung said.

Earlier, evergreen Spaniard Feliciano Lopez overcame Frenchman Gilles Simon.

World No.19 Lopez lost the opening set but took advantage of Simon's troublesome shoulder to triumph 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 with the third set decided by a super tiebreak 11-9.

The tournament this year has been expanded to a 12-player field with rising Australian star Nick Kyrgios the main drawcard.

Kyrgios makes his first start on Wednesday.
