Australian golfer Brad Kennedy has fired a blemish-free final round 67 in cruising to a two-shot win over Kiwi Josh Geary at the New Zealand PGA Championship in Auckland.
Sharing the overnight lead with Geary at Remeura Golf Glub, the 41-year-old Kennedy opened with a birdie and didn't miss a beat in also closing with a birdie to seal the win with a tournament total of 22-under 266.
Geary's campaign unravelled at the 17th hole where a bogey dashed his hopes, leaving him to finish in a share of runner-up for the second consecutive year.
Joining Geary in the runner-up position was Australian Neven Basic, who eased around in six-under 66 for a tournament total of 20 under.
Ryan Fox finished seven under in outright fourth, with Michael Hendry and James Nitties of Australia a further shot back.
Kennedy had targeted a strong start, with a swirling breeze making the back nine a tricky proposition.
"None of us played the back nine as good as we could have - fortunately Josh made a bogey on 17 and that gave me a little bit of leeway coming into the last.
"It was a great tussle out there."
A disappointed Geary took some consolation in still shooting 20 under par to seal second.
"Brad played really solid, he didn't give us an inch. I did what I could, I didn't quite have my A-game but I was still able to shoot some good numbers.
"Missing as many fairways as I did this week, I did really well."
