Australian Jack Rayner has clocked a personal best time to win gold at the inaugural Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships in Wales.
Rayner managed to outlast the field to finish the race in 61 minutes and one second on Sunday, taking top honours ahead of Ugandan star Fred Musobo.
"I'd only ever done three half marathons before, but nothing as super-fast as this one. The crowds were amazing all around and this is 100 per cent the biggest win of my career," he said.
"It was the best field I've ever raced in. I faced a few of them in the World Cross Country championships last year and they smashed me."
Kenyan favourite John Lotiang tried to make a break but the Ugandans worked together to stop him and the Australian stuck with their pack.

"I knew I had a big kick in me and I've always loved running downhill, so I knew I'd have an advantage in the closing stages. I loved the course and it is very fast," Rayner said.
Australian Celia Sullohern took silver in the women's race after finishing just 19 seconds behind Ugandan Juliet Chekwel who won in 69:45.
Australia also came second in both the men's and women's team events.
There were 17 nations taking part in the event and 19,057 runners.
Meanwhile, race organisers have confirmed two runners died after suffering cardiac arrests at the finish line.
Run 4 Wales said both runners were attended to by a medical team at the finish line and were taken to University Hospital Wales in Cardiff where they later died.
