A young Australian woman has been plucked to safety after she became stranded by deadly floods in Pakistan.
Severe flooding in Pakistan's main province of Punjab has killed more than 1500 people and left 3.2 million people in need of assistance.
A spokesperson for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) said a 25-year-old Australian woman was airlifted by the Pakistani army from the city of Gilgit, in Pakistan's north. Her hotel was surrounded by water.
DFAT has contacted the woman and offered her assistance. Authorities are not aware of any other Australians who are caught up in the floods.
The Pakistani military says it has rescued about 600 tourists, some from China and Japan.
