Australian Ben Simmons has given a taste of his potential with a sizzling performance in his US college career debut.
Simmons, touted as a future No.1 NBA draft pick, had 11 points and 13 rebounds as he starred for Louisiana State University in their 81-70 win over McNeese State.
Simmons set tongues wagging with his performance but said he was left unsatisfied after McNeese fought their way back into the match after LSU led 41-27 at halftime.
"I'm not satisfied ... we played well in the first half but I think we really needed to step up our game in the second half and play like it was zero-zero," Simmons told ESPN.
"I just learned that we can play at a high level all the time."

He joined an illustrious club - which includes Kevin Love and Anthony Davis - in having recorded a double-double in his college debut.
The 19-year-old Melbourne native has been heaped with expectation but says he went into his first college game unburdened.
"As soon as soon as I was ready in the lockeroom, I was ready to go out and play," Simmons said.
"I don't really get too nervous ... I feel like it's my time."
