Australia's Test stars Steve Smith and Mitchell Starc quickly found some state form to lift NSW to a competition record 279-run win over the Cricket Australia XI in their tournament debut at Bankstown Oval.
Australian captain Smith led the way for the Blues, cracking an unbeaten 143, backed by 108 from opener Nic Maddinson against the tournament debutants.
Test fast bowler Mitchell Starc then backed up his captain with career-best domestic one-day figures of 6-25 off 8.4 overs.
The CA XI were never in contention to chase down the target of 3-338 as Starc claimed a wicket just two balls into their innings.
The CA XI - a team formed of largely young players who missed state selection - were bowled out for just 59 in the 25th over.
The margin of defeat surpassed the previous mark of 219 runs set when Western Australia beat Tasmania in 1998.
