Aussie techs powering up cyclone-hit Tonga

An estimated 80 per cent of Tongan homes are still without power following Cyclone Gita.

Australian technicians are helping to restore power to cyclone-hit Tonga islands.

An estimated 80 per cent of Tongan homes are without electricity following damage by cyclone Gita, which hit earlier this month.

Ten technicians are working with a team from New Zealand to help Tonga Power restore electricity to homes, hospitals, schools and businesses.
