Aussie teen on track for Everest record

Queensland teenager Alyssa Azar hopes to become the youngest Australian to climb Mount Everest when she makes her summit attempt on Saturday.

Teenage mountaineer Alyssa Azar is hoping it's third time lucky when she makes her record-breaking attempt to conquer Mount Everest on Saturday.

The 19-year-old Queenslander is aiming to become the youngest Australian to climb the highest mountain in the world after being denied the opportunity by extreme weather in the past two years.

Azar's support crew say she is making her way to base camp four in good weather on Friday and is planning her summit attempt on Saturday.
