Australian television icon Jimmy Hannan has died following a short battle with cancer. He was 84.
The actor, singer and Gold Logie winner appeared in dozens of shows during a career that spanned more than 30 years, including as a host on game and variety shows in the 1960s and 1970s.
"He passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer. He was 84 so he had a fantastic life," his daughter Emily Gillman told nine.com.au.

In 1965, the entertainer won the Gold Logie for the most popular personality on Australian TV. He later released his own record "Beach Ball", which featured backing vocals from the Bee Gees.
In the four years until 1967, he hosted the music show Saturday Date, which in its early days featured Olivia Newton-John and Billy Thorpe.
Fans posted tributes on social media, remembering the impact he had on their lives.
"He’ll always inspire me," wrote TV host Andy Shepherd.
Brett Debritz wrote that "Jimmy's smiling face" was a big part of his Australian childhood.
Adrian Cutts said Hannan's memorabilia will help Australians remember his legacy.
At the height of his career Hannan's schedule included a dozen TV appearances a week and stints on national radio.
His performance style was later adopted and popularised by performers including Bobby Limb, Mike Walsh, Bert and Patti Newton, Don Lane, and Jeannie Little.
A private funeral is planned for Friday.
