Aussie women take out ICC Championship

Australia have been crowned winners of the ICC Women's Championship with one round still to play.

Australia haves confirmed their dominance of women's world cricket by taking out the inaugural ICC Women's Championship with one round still left to play.

Meg Lanning's Southern Stars were crowned winners of the eight-team championship after England's series win over the West Indies gave them an unassailable lead.

The six-time, defending World Cup champions and world No.1 sit on 30 points, seven points clear of England, and will play their final three matches of the tournament next month against South Africa in Canberra and Sydney.

The tournament pits the world's best eight nations against each other in a series of three one-day internationals.

Australia secured their win with three-game shut-outs of the West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and 2-1 wins over England, India and New Zealand.
